9-Day Small Group Tour Kenya Safari and Beach

Tour Overview

This 8-night small group tour Kenya perfectly blends thrilling safari adventures with serene coastal relaxation. Experience the breathtaking contrasts of Kenya — from the wide-open plains teeming with wildlife to the tranquil white sands and turquoise waters of Diani Beach.

Your journey begins with an unforgettable wildlife experience in Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. Known for its magnificent herds of elephants — particularly the famous “big tuskers” — Amboseli offers stunning photographic opportunities with Mount Kilimanjaro towering in the background. Spend two nights here exploring its diverse landscapes of open savannah, acacia woodland, and marshes that attract an abundance of wildlife including lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and a dazzling array of birdlife.

Continue to Tsavo West National Park, a vast and rugged wilderness offering a more remote and authentic safari experience. Tsavo’s volcanic landscapes, lava flows, and rolling plains provide a dramatic backdrop for adventure. Although the wildlife here is more widely dispersed, the park is home to the Big Five, and every game drive brings the excitement of unpredictable encounters — from elephants and lions to elusive leopards and rhinos.

After your safari, unwind on Kenya’s spectacular coast with four nights in Diani Beach, where palm-fringed shores, crystal-clear waters, and world-class hospitality await. Whether you choose to relax by the ocean, snorkel over coral reefs, or indulge in spa treatments, this is the perfect way to end your Kenyan adventure in style. Plus if you are looking to book a longer break – nothing to stop you adding on some extra beach days at the end!

Day Overview

DAY 1: Amboseli National Park

Depart Nairobi around 8:00 AM for the five-hour journey to Amboseli, passing through rural towns and scenic countryside. Arrive at Kibo Safari Camp for lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, famous for its huge elephant herds and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a buffet dinner back at the camp, including freshly made wood-fired pizza. A pre-night in Nairobi can be arranged if preferred.

DAY 2: Amboseli National Park

Spend today on an extended game drive exploring Amboseli’s varied habitats, from marshlands to open plains and shimmering dry lakebeds. With more time in the park, you’ll increase your chances of spotting different species and witnessing unique animal behaviour, all set against the ever-changing backdrop of Kilimanjaro. This is a full and rewarding day immersed in one of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes.

DAY 3: Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, leave Amboseli for Tsavo West, stopping at the dramatic Shetani Lava Flows to view the ancient volcanic formations. Continue with a game drive en route to Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, arriving in time to see its famous wildlife-rich waterhole. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive before relaxing at the lodge as animals gather at sunset. Dinner is served buffet-style.

DAY 4: Tsavo West National Park

Enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing with morning and afternoon game drives across Tsavo West’s rugged hills, red-earth plains, and acacia woodlands. Early morning offers excellent sightings of elephants, giraffes, and antelopes, while the cooler afternoon increases chances of spotting predators. Return to the lodge at sunset to watch the waterhole come alive before dinner.

DAY 5: Tsavo East National Park

Depart early with a final game drive through Tsavo West before travelling on to Tsavo East, known for its vast open plains and red soil. Enjoy lunch at your lodge, then set out on another afternoon game drive. If you wish, visit Mzima Springs for a short guided walk to view hippos, crocodiles, and fish through the crystal-clear waters and underwater viewing chamber.

DAYS 6–8: Diani Beach

Leave the safari landscape behind and travel south to the tropical coastline of Diani Beach, where turquoise waters and palm-lined sands await. Spend three nights at Leopard Beach Hotel on a dinner, bed, and breakfast basis, with plenty of time to swim, relax, stroll the beach, or enjoy optional activities such as diving, deep-sea fishing, or dining at Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant. Extensions are easily arranged.

DAY 9: Departure

Today you will check out and transfer to either Mombasa Airport or Ukunda Airstrip in time for your flight, reflecting on a journey that has taken you from wildlife-rich savannahs to the peaceful shores of the Indian Ocean.
