Who Are We?
We are a friendly and independent travel agency based in Wiltshire, but with clients throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and the USA. We are only a small company – but have a huge amount of personal experience of travel across Southern, East and West Africa. We regularly visit properties and destinations across the African continent to keep our Africa tours and Africa safaris current, interesting and unique!
Why We Are Different
There are many companies on the market at the moment offering a variety of Africa tours and Africa Safaris. So what makes our travel agency different? We like to focus on tours that don’t follow standard itineraries! Our tours focus on including unique experiences and destinations as we provide tours to more African Countries than other small tour operators in the UK. We really are genuine Africa experts.
100% Financial Protection
We are a reputable, professional and trustworthy small company. All tours booked with us are 100% financially protected. We provide this protection via two means. All funds received for a trip are placed into a trust account, so only reputable suppliers are used. In addition, for all tours we offer a Safe Seat Guarantee via Membership with the Travel Trust Association (Q5080)
Meet our CEO
My name is Sarah Hennessy and I am the founder and CEO of African Star Tours. I have a deep rooted passion for travel having visited nearly 100 countries to date, but despite visiting many many beautiful countries and destinations across the globe there is just something about the continent of Africa – it really does have a piece of my heart.
Back in 2015 I decided to turn my travel passion into my work and I set up a small travel company called African Star Tours so that I could share some of my favourite trips and destinations with other like-minded and passionate travellers. I firmly believe in staying in locally owned lodges and working with local companies to ensure that those benefiting from tourism are the ones most impacted by it. I am not necessarily a luxury traveller as I know there are fantastic mid-range properties out there in great locations with beautiful views, great wildlife experiences and amazing African service. I am always trying to seek out these little ‘hidden gems’ that offer something different to the standard packaged tours – and now I get to share these with those who decide to travel with my company.
All our tours have a focus on supporting the locally owned companies. Not only does this ensure those impacted by tourism are those benefiting from tourism, it means our guests get to really experience amazing local food, service and accommodations – resulting in truly memorable trips.
We fully understand that we are only ever guests into the homes of the beautiful animals of Africa. On land or at sea we only work with tour leaders and operators who are respectful of all animals by giving them space, not interfering with their natural way of life, who ensure habitats are protected and who have conservation at the core of their values.
We actively support sustainable practices within tourism by working with companies who focus on positive actions such as local job creation, reduced water usage, cultural heritage preservation, landscape restoration and wildlife research and conservation. We also seek to prevent over tourism of areas, recognising the impact this has on both people and nature.
