Zambia is known for the abundance of leopards in South Luangwa making this a popular destination to visit for wildlife enthusiasts looking to catch a glimpse of this elusive feline. Livingstone is the perfect destination for adventure seekers. There are some beautiful and exclusive high-end lodges available across the three key safari destinations (Kafue, Luangwa and Lower Zambezi) for those who love to safari in style, but equally, there are multiple mid-range options that provide comfortable accommodation in picturesque locations often with a pool to cool off in. For the adventure traveller there are camping sites and basic lodges available across the regions, often on the same site as the lodges meaning great facilities are available.

When is the best time of the year to visit?

The best time of the year to visit Zambia is April through to October and this is because the country is coolest within the dry season. Whilst temperatures are good during the day in dry season it can get much cooler in the evenings and overnight, especially at altitude, so do remember to pack warm clothes. The green season of October to March in Zambia does offer some excellent rates, particularly for solo travellers, as single supplements are typically waived. However, the vegetation will be thick and green, making animals more difficult (but not impossible) to see. Green season is also the most impressive time to see the mighty Victoria Falls in Livingstone, as this is when water levels are at their highest.
