Our Review

★★★★★

Our stay aboard the Chobe Princess was a truly memorable experience and a wonderful way to explore the Chobe River in a relaxed and intimate setting. We were fortunate to stay in the room at the very top of the boat, next to the captain’s cabin, and it was exceptional. The elevated position gave us fantastic views directly from our room, and it felt wonderfully private, quiet and not overlooked at all. If this room is available, we would absolutely recommend requesting it.

The cruise itself is very intimate, with just 6–10 guests on board, which creates a warm and social atmosphere. All meals are enjoyed together, and despite having a mixed group of travellers, everyone got along extremely well. The shared dining and relaxed pace made it easy to connect with others without ever feeling forced or crowded.

One of the real highlights was the flexibility of the game-viewing cruises. Wildlife viewing is done by tender boat, and on several occasions we were lucky enough to have private game-viewing excursions, as other guests chose to stay on board and relax. This made the experience feel even more personal and unrushed, allowing us to linger with sightings and enjoy the river at our own pace.

The wildlife encounters over our three days were outstanding. We watched a whole elephant family swimming across the Chobe, saw countless hippos both in and out of the water, including babies, and enjoyed excellent birdlife with many beautiful species. Crocodiles were also plentiful, sometimes a little closer to the tender boats than expected, which added a thrilling edge to the experience.

The food on board was fantastic, consistently well prepared and beautifully presented, and the crew were excellent throughout—professional, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, the Chobe Princess offers a deeply relaxing way to end a safari trip while still being fully immersed in nature. There are no early morning game drives, but wildlife is all around you, making this a calm, luxurious and unforgettable way to experience the Chobe River.
