Our Review
We really enjoyed our time at Sweetwaters Serena Camp, which offers a classic and rewarding safari experience in the heart of Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The setting is excellent, with open plains and a productive waterhole that attracts wildlife throughout the day, creating a constant sense of activity around the camp.
We stayed in the Moremi Wing, which was a real highlight. The location of these rooms is fantastic, as animals regularly walk past the front of the accommodation on their way to the waterhole. One particularly memorable moment was having a black rhino walk directly in front of our room, an experience that perfectly captures how special this camp can be.
The standard tents are also a good option and suit guests who prefer a more traditional safari tent style. They are simpler and more basic in design but remain functional and comfortable, offering an authentic bush feel that many safari travellers appreciate. The accommodation areas are fenced, which makes the camp especially suitable for families, while still allowing excellent views of animals moving around the waterhole and surrounding plains.
Meals at Sweetwaters Serena Camp are served buffet style, and while the lodge is fairly large, the quality of food is good for a mid-range property. There was a good variety on offer, and the dining areas never felt overly crowded during our stay, which helped maintain a relaxed atmosphere.
One activity we would highly recommend is the night drive offered by the lodge. This provides a great opportunity to see different wildlife species that are rarely encountered during daytime game drives and adds an exciting dimension to the safari experience. Overall, Sweetwaters Serena Camp combines excellent wildlife viewing, solid comfort and good value, making it a very enjoyable place to stay.
