Our Review

★★★★★

We loved our relaxed and friendly stay at The Hide Safari Camp in Hwange, which immediately felt welcoming and unpretentious. The atmosphere is easygoing and warm, allowing guests to feel at home while still being immersed in the bush. From the outset, the lodge struck a perfect balance between comfort and authenticity.

The rooms are thoughtfully designed with a good layout that offers both comfort and privacy. One of the standout features was the bathroom, with a great bathtub and an outdoor shower that added a special safari touch. These details made the accommodation feel indulgent while still being close to nature.

One of our favourite experiences was staying behind on a game drive to spend time in the hide itself. Watching wildlife quietly and at close range was incredibly rewarding and felt very different from a traditional drive. The hide was often busy with activity, and it was easy to lose track of time just observing. A particularly memorable highlight was the resident hippo, who seemed to return to the waterhole every day. Seeing familiar wildlife patterns develop during the stay added to the sense of connection with the environment and made each day feel special.

Dining at The Hide was exceptional, with food of a very high standard throughout our stay. The team paid close attention to dietary preferences and handled them with care, which we really appreciated. Breakfast on the deck was a highlight, offering a relaxed start to the day with lovely views and the sounds of the bush all around. Overall, The Hide delivers a wonderfully memorable safari experience built on comfort, warmth and outstanding wildlife encounters.
