Beginning in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s safari circuit, you ease into the adventure before heading out to explore Tarangire National Park, renowned for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and seasonal wildlife migrations. From here, the journey continues through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park, where flamingos line the soda lake and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions may be spotted among the forest canopy.
The safari reaches its pinnacle with visits to two of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife areas: the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder teeming with wildlife and home to all of the Big Five, including the endangered black rhino. Day Overview
Day 1: Arusha
Arrive at Arusha Airport and transfer to your boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy the hotel facilities, relax by the pool or take part in optional activities. Dinner and overnight in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, stop briefly in Arusha town for any last-minute purchases before heading out on safari. Travel to Tarangire National Park for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Discover large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees and diverse wildlife before overnight near the park.
Day 3: Tarangire – Lake Manyara – Karatu
Depart early for Lake Manyara National Park and enjoy a morning game drive. Explore this scenic park at the base of the Great Rift Valley, known for flamingos, rich birdlife and elusive tree-climbing lions. Continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti (Seronera)
After breakfast, drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater for exceptional game viewing, including the Big Five and endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch, continue through the Southern Plains into the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park (Seronera)
Spend a full day game driving in the central Serengeti. Explore open plains and riverine areas along the Seronera River, renowned for year-round wildlife and excellent lion, cheetah and leopard sightings. Picnic lunch in the bush, followed by continued game viewing.
Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Karatu
Enjoy a morning game drive in the Serengeti before departing with picnic lunch. Travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at Olduvai Gorge to learn about early human history. Continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Mto-wa-Mbu – Arusha
After breakfast, visit the colourful town of Mto-wa-Mbu for photographs and curio shopping. Thereafter, return to Arusha where the tour ends. We hope to welcome you again on another African adventure.
