Day Overview

DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive in Kigali and meet your guide for a warm welcome to Rwanda. After a short introduction to your upcoming journey, transfer to your lodge for check-in. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and settling in.

DAY 2: Kigali → Akagera National Park

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before driving through Rwanda’s scenic hills toward Akagera National Park. Begin with a short introductory game drive at the park entrance, then continue to Ruzizi Tented Lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, embark on a sunset boat safari on Lake Ihema, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 3: Full-Day Game Drive & Night Safari

Start early for a full-day game drive in the northern sector of Akagera, renowned for excellent wildlife viewing— including the Big Five, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and primates. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, followed by more wildlife spotting. After returning to the lodge, head out again at 5:30 PM for a thrilling night game drive in search of nocturnal animals and predators.

DAY 4: Akagera → Volcanoes National Park

Begin with a dawn game drive in the southern region of Akagera (6:00–9:00 AM). After breakfast, embark on a scenic journey to Volcanoes National Park via Kigali, stopping for lunch. Continue north through picturesque landscapes to Musanze. Arrive in the evening, check in, relax, and enjoy dinner.

DAY 5: Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before your gorilla trek. Hike through the lush Virunga foothills to meet your assigned gorilla family and spend one extraordinary hour observing them in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight near the park.

DAY 6: Golden Monkeys & Cultural Experience

Return to the park for a morning golden monkey trek—an easier, scenic walk through bamboo forests to observe these playful primates. After lunch and a short rest, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda’s traditions, music, dance, crafts, and community heritage.

DAY 7: Kigali Tour & Departure

After breakfast, begin a guided city tour of Kigali, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a powerful and educational experience. Continue to the vibrant Kimironko Market to explore local crafts, produce, and daily life. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your departure—marking the end of your unforgettable journey through Rwanda.
