Day Overview
Day 1: Accra
Arrive in Ghana’s vibrant capital, Accra, where your guide will meet you at Kotoka International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, relax and enjoy a warm “Akwaaba” welcome as your guide briefs you on the adventure ahead. Spend the evening settling in and enjoying your first taste of West African hospitality.
Day 2: Explore Accra
Begin your exploration of Accra with a visit to the National Museum to discover Ghana’s fascinating cultural heritage. Take a walking tour of Jamestown, a historic fishing community filled with colonial architecture and vibrant street life. Visit Independence and Black Star Squares, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and the bustling National Cultural Centre. End the day with a stop at the famous Fantasy Coffins workshop in Teshie Nungua, where creative coffin designs celebrate Ghanaian artistry and tradition.
Day 3: To the Volta Region
Travel northeast toward the Volta Region, stopping first at TK Beads to learn traditional bead-making techniques. Continue to Shai Hills Resource Reserve for a guided hike through its rocky landscapes, spotting baboons and colorful birdlife. After lunch overlooking the scenic Volta River, enjoy a relaxing river cruise (time permitting) before touring the Akosombo Dam—an impressive feat of hydro-engineering. Arrive in Hohoe by evening for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Wli Waterfalls & Cultural Encounters
Spend the morning trekking through lush forest to Wli Falls, West Africa’s tallest waterfall, and cool off in its natural pool. After lunch, visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary to meet the sacred Mona monkeys protected by local tradition. Day 5: Aburi Gardens to Kumasi

Day 6: Kumasi – The Ashanti Kingdom

Experience the lively energy of Kejetia Market—one of the largest in West Africa—then see the legendary Okomfo Anokye Sword, a symbol of unity that cannot be removed from the earth. End the day with a visit to KNUST University, a center of science and innovation in West Africa.
Day 7: To Mole National Park
Journey north through Ghana’s changing landscapes to Mole National Park, stopping at Larabanga to see its ancient mud-and-stick mosque, one of West Africa’s oldest. Arrive in Mole in time for sunset views over the savannah from your lodge, followed by dinner under the stars.
Day 8: Safari & Community Visit
Start your day early with a guided walking safari, tracking elephants and other wildlife at close range. After lunch, visit Mognori Village to learn about sustainable eco-tourism, shea butter production, and traditional healing practices. Spend the evening relaxing back at your lodge surrounded by nature.
Day 9: Waterfalls & Sacred Monkeys
Depart Mole, stopping at Kintampo Falls for a refreshing swim beneath the cascading waters. Continue to Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, where locals protect the sacred black-and-white colobus and Mona monkeys. Interact with the community before continuing to Kumasi for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Ashanti Crafts & Traditions
Visit UNESCO-listed traditional Ashanti houses before exploring Adanwomase, the birthplace of Kente cloth, to see master weavers at work. In Ntonso, learn to print Adinkra symbols using natural dyes and even create your own piece. Conclude with a stop at Sokoban Krofrom to watch skilled artisans cast beautiful brass jewelry and ornaments.
Day 11: Cape Coast – History & Reflection
Travel south to Assin Manso, an important memorial site along the transatlantic slave route. Continue to Cape Coast for lunch by the ocean before touring the UNESCO-listed Cape Coast Castle. Explore its dungeons, museum, and the symbolic “Door of No Return,” a powerful reminder of Ghana’s history and resilience.
Day 12: Rainforest & Artisans of Elmina
Visit Kakum National Park for an exhilarating walk across the canopy bridges high above the rainforest floor. Tour the Stingless Bee Centre before enjoying lunch at a local social enterprise.
