When I decided in 2019 that I was going to return to Namibia, I knew that there were two things that were absolutely key. The first was that I wanted to do this trip as a self-drive, as I absolutely love the freedom that comes from travelling your own route on your own time. The second criteria was that I wanted to visit the Caprivi Strip.

Walvis Bay or Swakopmund Blog

Walvis Bay or Swakopmund will feature on most itineraries for Namibia. The first time I went there, I found this to be a bit odd. I mean Swakopmund is a nice enough town, but it isn't somewhere I would typically add to an itinerary, especially one that is pushed for time to see other more beautiful destinations in Namibia. I soon learnt that the reason for this inclusion is logistical as opposed to being a 'must-see'.

Kafue National Park – Zambia

Kafue - which is located in Zambia, is one of the world’s largest National Parks. It covers an area of around 8,600 square miles (22,400 km2), and is larger than a number of countries including eSwatini (formally Swaziland), Slovenia, the Gambia and Qatar. It is situated in the western part of Zambia, and is about a 3 hour drive from the capital of Lusaka.
