Our Review

Ruzizi Tented Lodge offers a wonderfully atmospheric and intimate safari experience in Akagera National Park, with a setting that immediately feels calm and immersive. Positioned on the edge of Lake Ihema, the lodge enjoys beautiful views across the water and surrounding wetlands, creating a strong sense of connection to the landscape from the moment you arrive.

One of the highlights of our stay was the dining experience. Breakfast enjoyed on the outside deck overlooking the lake was a daily pleasure, with wildlife and birdlife providing a constantly changing backdrop. In the evenings, dinner under the starry skies added a magical touch, with the sounds of the bush enhancing the relaxed and natural atmosphere.

The tented accommodation is thoughtfully designed and connected by raised wooden walkways, which add to the sense of adventure while keeping everything easy to navigate. Each tent feels private and well positioned, allowing guests to fully enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. Hearing hippos grunting from your room at night is an unforgettable and authentic safari experience.

The tents themselves are comfortable and well appointed. Beds are solid and well constructed using local materials, offering excellent comfort after a day of activities. Bathrooms are a good size and well designed, providing practical comfort without detracting from the lodge’s eco-friendly approach.

Friendly and attentive staff complete the experience at Ruzizi Lodge. Service is warm and genuine, making guests feel welcome and well cared for throughout their stay. Overall, Ruzizi Tented Lodge delivers a memorable lakeside safari experience, combining excellent views, atmospheric dining, comfortable accommodation and authentic wildlife encounters in one of Rwanda’s most scenic parks.
