Namib Outpost - African Star Tours

Namib Outpost is a distinctive desert lodge set within the private Namib Tsaris Nature Reserve near the Sossusvlei region of Namibia, offering panoramic views over vast gravel plains toward the red dunes of the Namib Sand Sea and the Naukluft Mountains. Namib Outpost was one of those places that immediately encourages you to slow down, and we absolutely loved our stay here. Set deep within a private reserve, the lodge feels wonderfully remote, with uninterrupted views stretching across vast desert plains towards distant mountains. From the moment we arrived, the sense of space, silence and isolation was deeply relaxing.

The chalets are beautifully positioned, each looking straight out over the desert. Sitting on the private deck, watching the light change across the landscape, became one of our favourite daily rituals. It is the perfect place to sit for hours with a book, a cup of coffee or simply your thoughts, completely undisturbed by noise or distractions.

One of the standout features is the viewpoint, which offers breathtaking panoramic views across the reserve. Sunset here is truly special, as the desert colours shift from soft golds to deep reds and purples. It is an ideal spot for a sundowner and easily one of the most memorable sunset experiences we had in Namibia.

The food at Namib Outpost deserves special mention. Meals were consistently excellent, with a good variety of choices that catered to different tastes. The quality, presentation and flavours were impressive, making dining a genuine highlight of the stay and something we looked forward to each evening.

Evenings at Namib Outpost are just as magical. With no other lodges within sight, the night skies are incredibly clear, offering spectacular stargazing. Sitting outside after dinner, surrounded by complete stillness and a canopy of stars, was both humbling and unforgettable.

Overall, Namib Outpost delivers a rare sense of calm and connection to the desert. Its secluded setting, beautifully positioned chalets, excellent food and exceptional viewpoints make it an ideal place to truly switch off. For anyone seeking tranquillity, space and natural beauty, it is a place that lingers in your memory long after you leave.
