    Kibo Safari Camp is one of our favourite lodges in the Amboseli area and a place we are always happy to return to. Located just outside Amboseli National Park, it offers very easy access to the park gates for game drives while benefiting from a peaceful setting away from the busier inside-park camps. The location works extremely well, especially for early morning starts.

    The style of the tents is one of the lodge’s strongest features. They are spacious, well designed and feel both comfortable and welcoming. A real advantage is the variety of tent configurations available, including double, twin, triple and family options, which makes the camp particularly versatile and well suited to different types of travellers. This flexibility, combined with the relaxed atmosphere, makes it an excellent choice for families.

    Bathrooms are comfortable and functional, providing everything needed after a long day of game driving. Each tent also has a generous outdoor seating area, which is a lovely place to relax, even though the views are mainly of the paths and well-kept grounds rather than open plains. The outdoor space still adds greatly to the comfort and usability of the tents.

    Although Kibo Safari Camp is quite a large camp, it never feels overcrowded or busy. The layout is well planned, with tents spaced in a way that maintains privacy, and we never felt overlooked. The communal areas are spacious and well managed, allowing guests to spread out and relax comfortably. The bar features traditional, locally made wooden chairs that are incredibly comfortable and add a lovely sense of character and authenticity. In fact all of the furniture here is locally sourced, and is such high quality.

    One of the absolute highlights of staying at Kibo Safari Camp is the wood-fired pizza oven. Fresh pizzas are cooked to order and are genuinely delicious, making it a fun and memorable part of the stay for both adults and children. Combined with its welcoming atmosphere, family-friendly setup and excellent location, Kibo Safari Camp remains a standout lodge in the Amboseli region.
