Our Review

Ivory Lodge is a very special place for us, and it perfectly reflects everything we admire about the Amalinda collection. It is run by a wonderful family who are deeply committed to conservation and tourism in Zimbabwe, and that passion is felt throughout the experience. During our visit, we had the pleasure of joining the family for dinner, which was a genuinely memorable and warm experience that added a personal touch rarely found elsewhere.

The location of Ivory Lodge is exceptional, centred around a beautifully positioned waterhole that consistently delivers incredible wildlife sightings. Every time we have visited, there has been activity at the waterhole, making it one of the most reliable places we know for game viewing directly from camp. Sitting quietly and watching animals come and go is one of the great joys of staying here.

Over multiple visits, we have been fortunate to witness some outstanding wildlife moments. Sightings have included lions, huge herds of elephants and large groups of buffalo, often all within a short space of time. These encounters, combined with the intimate and natural setting, create an experience that feels both exciting and deeply immersive.

The lodge has been thoughtfully refurbished, and the updates enhance comfort while preserving the authentic, eco-conscious feel that Ivory Lodge is known for. One of the standout additions is the new two-storey family tents, which are a fantastic concept. They are spacious, well designed and ideal for families, offering comfort, privacy and a unique safari-style layout.

Overall, Ivory Lodge remains one of our favourite safari properties around Hwange. Its combination of exceptional wildlife viewing, genuine hospitality, meaningful conservation efforts and thoughtful upgrades makes it a truly special place. Each visit reinforces why the Amalinda collection holds such a strong place in our hearts and why Ivory Lodge continues to be such a rewarding safari experience.
