Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge offers a wonderfully authentic safari experience deep within the Mluwati Concession, and our stay here was memorable from the very start. When we visited, elephants were regularly right outside the lodge, moving calmly through the surrounding bush, which immediately set the tone for an immersive and wildlife-rich experience.

The location of the lodge is excellent, with wildlife activity frequently passing through the camp itself. Being able to see animals so close without leaving the lodge adds a special dimension to the stay and reinforces the feeling of being truly in the bush. The sounds of nature at night further enhance the atmosphere and sense of remoteness.

Accommodation at Hoyo Hoyo is in traditional rondavel-style rooms, which we really liked. While the rooms are fairly basic, they feel authentic and well suited to the environment. The design reflects classic safari simplicity, offering comfort without distraction and allowing the focus to remain on the surroundings and wildlife. The lodge has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with staff who are genuinely welcoming and attentive. Service throughout our stay was excellent, creating a warm and personal feel that made us feel at home. Meals were enjoyable and shared in a sociable setting, adding to the lodge’s charm.
