We loved our stay at Camp Kwando, which offers a wonderfully relaxed safari experience along the Caprivi Strip. Set on the banks of the Kwando River, the lodge enjoys a peaceful and scenic location, with a strong sense of space and calm that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. The riverine setting immediately sets it apart from more arid safari destinations.

The accommodation is very comfortable, with well-positioned tented units that make the most of the views. Each tent features a private deck overlooking the river, and this quickly became our favourite place to unwind. Watching the sun set from the deck, looking across the water towards Botswana, was a daily highlight and one of those simple but unforgettable moments.

The lodge itself is well laid out and welcoming, with communal areas that encourage relaxation and quiet enjoyment of the scenery. The dining and lounge spaces overlook the river, offering excellent vantage points for wildlife viewing and birdlife throughout the day. The atmosphere is informal and friendly, adding to the overall sense of comfort.

Activities at Camp Kwando complement the setting perfectly. Game drives, boat cruises and river-based excursions offer varied ways to explore the wildlife-rich area, while bird-watching is particularly rewarding. The guiding is knowledgeable and enhances the experience without feeling rushed or overly structured.
