Amalinda Lodge is truly one of those rare places that feels completely at one with its surroundings. Set within the dramatic granite kopjes of the Matobo Hills, the lodge is thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape, rather than compete with it. From the moment you arrive, there is a strong sense of privacy, tranquillity, and respect for the environment that makes the experience feel incredibly special.
Room 1 is an absolute standout and unlike anything we have experienced before. Built directly into the ancient rock formations, it feels both luxurious and wonderfully organic, as though it has always belonged there. The way the rocks form part of the walls, terraces, and living spaces creates a romantic, cocooned atmosphere that is perfect for couples seeking something truly unique and memorable.
What we loved most is how the entire lodge embraces its natural setting. Pathways weave through the rocks, rooms are tucked discreetly into the kopjes, and views open out over the surrounding wilderness. Amalinda doesn’t just sit in the landscape, it becomes part of it, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in this remarkable World Heritage Site.
