Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge provides a comfortable and welcoming base for exploring Volcanoes National Park, particularly for gorilla trekking. The lodge is well located, not far from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) start point in Musanze, which makes early starts for trekking far easier and more relaxed. The setting is peaceful, with views towards the surrounding hills and volcanoes.

We found the accommodation comfortable and well suited to the purpose of a trekking lodge. Rooms are cosy and practical, offering a warm place to return to after long and often muddy days in the forest. A particularly thoughtful touch was the provision of gaiters for hiking, which were extremely useful and showed a good understanding of what guests need for gorilla trekking.

Food at Tiloreza was good and consistently enjoyable, with hearty meals that worked well after physically demanding days. The drinks selection was also good, with a variety of options available. It is worth noting that food and drink prices are much higher than at other places we visited across Rwanda, which is to be expected given the location and the high demand associated with gorilla trekking in the area.

Overall, Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge offers a solid and comfortable stay close to Volcanoes National Park. With its convenient location, friendly service and practical touches for trekkers, it serves as a reliable base for one of Rwanda’s most iconic wildlife experiences.
