This private tour offers a great introduction to Ethiopia, and can be included as an add-on to many of our other holidays in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Tanzania. You will have the opportunity to experience both the vibrancy of Addis Ababa and the more serene beauty of the Ethiopian countryside when you visit Lalibela.
The Rock Hewn Churches are a UNESCO World Heritage site and offer a truly unique cultural experience. The 11 medieval monolithic cave churches are each individual in their style, as they were not constructed in the traditional way, instead they were hewn from the living rock of monolithic blocks. These blocks were further chiseled out to form doors, windows, columns, various floors and roofs. To this day the churches remain in excellent condition, and are still an important place of pilgrimage and devotion.
