On arrival at Cape Town International airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Resting at the convergence of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean, and located between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain and the beautiful blue waters of Table Bay, the oustandinglyy scenic city of Cape Town is in a class of its own. With its bustling harbour, world-class beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna, Cape Town consistently captivates the hearts of all who visit.
Today you will go on a half day City Orientation Tour to learn all about Cape Town’s rich history and vibrant cultures. Visit the lovely Company Gardens and do some shopping for colourful and unique African arts and crafts at the vibrant Greenmarket Square, whilst soaking up the lively atmosphere. You will also visit the colourful Bo Kaap area, previously known as the Malay Quarter, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill this is the spiritual home of Cape Town’s Muslim community. The area is most famous for its stunning brightly painted houses making for lovely photos, particularly on a sunny day. You will then take a trip up Cape Town’s landmark and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Table Mountain. A 5-minute cableway ride takes you to the top of the mountain, and if it is a clear day you will enjoy uninterrupted views over the city bowl and across the peninsula. You then have the opportunity to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening at the V&A Waterfront, or at one of Cape Towns amazing restaurants.
Today you will travel along the Atlantic Seaboard to Hout Bay, passing picturesque beaches and the coastal suburbs of Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandadno. You will meet the locals at Imizamo Yethu Township and visit the Original T-Bag Design company, which produces outstanding products and gifts. From Hout Bay Harbour you have the chance to do an optional boat trip to Duiker Island, to see the thousands of Cape Fur Seals living on this rocky outcrop. Hout Bay Harbour is a busy fishing harbour with plenty to occupy all of your senses! Browse for souvenirs at the Hout Bay Craft Market or take a walk on the beach and paddle your feet in the sea. The tour then continues over the stunning Chapman’s Peak, known as one of the most spectacular scenic drives in the world, all the way along the Peninsula, through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and to the most southern tip at Cape Point. An short but invigorating walk takes you to the two lighthouses at the top and bottom of the headland, from where you will enjoy breath-taking views of the cliffs and the ocean below. Lunch will be enjoyed at a seaside restaurant (own expense) before you make your way along the False Bay coastline to the Naval suburb of Simon’s Town. You will visit the delightful African Penguins of Boulders Beach which are an absolute joy to watch, before heading back to your hotel for the evening.
This morning your guide will collect you in the morning for a full day on the West Coast. Starting at the !Khwa ttu San center you will get a fascinating insight into the culture, heritage, knowledge and modern-day life of the San of Southern Africa. Your San guide will lead you through a truly exceptional experience by foot or bicycle. During the tour the San will demonstrate their skills, share their ancient knowledge about oral history, tracking animals and identifying plants with you. They will also teach you words in some of their languages and enlighten you about recent achievements in obtaining their rights to land and intellectual property. You can stay for lunch (own cost) in the restaurant serving fresh food sourced locally and free range meat, before heading back to Cape Town. On route you will stop at Groote Post Wine farm for a delicious wine tasting.
After breakfast and check out of your hotel, your guide will meet you to embark on an approx 2-3 hour scenic transfer to Hermanus for a 2 hour whale (season June to December) or dolphin watching tour. You will also get some time to spend exploring the village of Hermanus before checking into your guest house situated on the rocks of De Kelders. Whale Coast is a rugged stretch of South African coastline that snakes along the Atlantic Ocean, with magnificent mountains rising up on the other side. The spectacular scenery is made up of charming seaside villages, farms, rivers, coves and valleys, and during the right season, the whales can be seen cruising and wallowing in the coastal waters, they can even be seen from the shore.
Today an exhilarating and unique experience adventure lies ahead, as you get the opportunity to do a cage dive with sharks. Great White Sharks are enigmatic and powerful. South Africa is blessed to have Great White Sharks close to the shores, which allows people to safely watch them from the boat and cage. Divers and non-divers can rest assured that diving and observing will be a secure and wondrous experience, which is Fairtrade accredited. Your day with the sharks includes breakfast/lunch, snacks on board, tea & scones, all diving equipment as well as educational information and material on the Great White Shark.
Today your guide will again collect you at an agreed time and take you to Cape Town airport for your flight to Kruger. On arrival at Hoedspruit airport, you will be met and transferred into Timbavati and Umlani Bush Lodge. You will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
For the next four nights you will get to immerse youself in a fantastic safari experience, trying all that the lodge and region has to offer. Experience the thrill of game drives in open Land Rovers, guided bush walks and tracking game on foot with highly experienced rangers and trackers. At Umlani you are guaranteed an adventure of a lifetime in one of Africa's world-renowned, unspoilt wilderness reserves. Your stay includes three meals, two game drives daily and local drinks. Timbavati Private Game Reserve shares a common, unfenced border with Kruger Park and encompasses many exclusive private lodges. The region is best known for the ‘white lions of Timbavati’, two unusually pale lion cubs discovered here in the 1970s, their colour due to a rare recessive gene. The Timbavati is a “Big Five” Game Reserve: Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo roam freely as do many more species of predators and antelopes. Over 40 mammal species and 350 bird species have been identified within the area. This, together with the abundant variety of flora, the tranquillity and the natural beauty of the land, ensures an adventure to be remembered. It said to have the densest giraffe population in the world.
